I love travel, so this article is an interesting read as it talks about the hidden risks long term travelers likely will encounter. What can I learn from it from a business standpoint? Just like there are catches behind the glamour of this lifestyle, there are risks for those who run an online business that people seldom talk about. For me, it's the risk of bodily injury due to sitting for too long in front of my Macbook Pro managing my eCommerce business. I love sourcing online, and, once I am doing that, I find myself intently looking at the screen while flipping page after page analyzing potential deals. As a result, my eyes suffer fatigue due to stress from intense focusing. Over time, I've developed a minor case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist and also tennis elbow. Furthermore, often after working long hours on the computer, I have stiff shoulders which lead to a minor headache. The most recent "injury" is the weakening of my left ankle when it's under pressure, such as when walking down the stairs. At first, I thought I somehow sprained my ankle accidentally. It wasn't until last week that I finally figured out what was causing it: I had been unknowingly often keeping a tip-toeing position on my left foot for an extended period of time when I was working on the computer! Now that I've become more aware of the potential for these injuries, I have developed strategies to address each. Let's all be reminded that we need a healthy body to enjoy success in business in the long run.
